Losing Pitcher: Jake Arrieta (9-7)

Recap
Jacoby Ellsbury continued his career year with two solo home runs to power the Red Sox to victory behind Andrew Miller's solid day on the mound. With the game scoreless going into the bottom of the second, Miller got himself into a bit of trouble. After getting the first out, he delivered three straight walks, only to force Craig Tatum to ground into an inning-ending double play. In the next inning, Ellsbury came up with one out and blasted a solo shot to right to give the Sox a 1-0 lead. In the next inning, with Josh Reddick on third and Carl Crawford on second, Jason Varitek grounded out to second, scoring Reddick and extending the lead to two. Miller was pulled in the 6th inning, and finished with 5.2 shutout innings, allowing two hits and six walks, while striking out three. Ellsbury hit his second homer in the seventh to extend the lead by more, and Matt Albers, Daniel Bard, and Jonathan Papelbon combined for 3.1 perfect innings, allowing the Sox to hold on for the 4-0 shutout victory.
