The Red Sox hit the All Star break on an absolute tear after finishing off their sweep of the Orioles on Sunday afternoon, making themselves winners of 10 of their last 11. Kyle Weiland made his Major League debut for the Red Sox, and looked very solid in the first, going 1-2-3 with a strikeout. In the bottom of the inning, the Red Sox offense started with a single from Jacoby Ellsbury. After a walk and infield single, David Ortiz ripped a single to center to score the game's first run. Josh Reddick, the next batter, hit a sac fly to left, giving Boston the 2-0 lead. Weiland began to struggle in the second, however. His first hit given up was to Derrek Lee, who hit a 2-run home run into the Monster Seats. The O's then hit a ground rule double, then two straight singles to give them the lead. After three more singles, two of them of the infield variety, to leave the inning with a 6-2 lead. However, the Sox got those runs right back, all from the long ball. It started with a solo shot from Marco Scutaro. Dustin Pedroia then put a charge into a solo blast of his own, hitting the Sports Authority sign in left. Then, after Adrian Gonzalez hit a double, Kevin Youkilis hit one out in center field, and the game was back to a tie. Weiland settled back down, pitching two more scoreless innings. In the bottom of the fourth, Boston loaded the bases, and David Ortiz drew a walk to give the Sox the lead. In the fifth, Weiland was ejected for hitting Vlad Guerrero, and Alfredo Aceves came in with first and third and nobody out. He got out of the jam unscathed, and, along with Daniel Bard and Jonathan Papelbon, held the Orioles scoreless for the remainder of the game.
